Exhibition Addition [320 mts2]
Protecting the newly restored church, this addition to the existing gallery spaces of La Academia allows for visitors to actively or passively view the collection. When rushing off for the daily commute, one can catch glimpses through the solar protective glazing of the urban models. Then, when one have a few moments, they can take in the two new exhibit halls and the entirety of the famous galleries.

Viewing Platform Bridge
The structure of the bridge itself is composed of hundreds of steel pipes, that are woven together as sticks upon a tidal shore. The lightness of this bridge design allows people to enter Venice's "Main Street" without having to cross under a massive barrier. The "S"-curve of the bridge not only makes reference to the serpentine nature of the Canal Grande that is crosses, but it also directs pedestrians to beautiful views in both directions of travel. Covered viewing platforms allow one to gaze off at the Duomo to the East, or away from the Lagoon into the heart of the City.

Water Courtyard Cafe + Taxi Station [120 mts2]
Whether enjoying a sunny day along the Canal Grande, or zipping off to work on a water taxi, these spaces recapture the forgotten power and energy of La Academia's water forecourt.

Academia Viewing Tower [485 mts2]
This 50m tall tower is clad in a thick veneer of local stone and serves as a marker in the City, similar to the 100m bell tower at Piazza San Marco. Acting as both a citadel for precious urban documents, and an environment for enlightened study; intimate spaces for staff, scholars, and visitors are afforded beautiful views of Venice, the Lagoon and Sea beyond.
