Societas Insomnia is a nightmare circus that, in the words of J.Dee Hill, beautifully "combines a dark circus aesthetic with some body-manipulation, meathook-flying" and fire.

Composed of a number of fire and body modification artists in Portland, Oregon; their performances can be seen through-out the city on a regular basis.
The most recent full-troupe show was at the Roseland Theatre on 11 December 2004. This inaugural show was highly patroned, and also served as the kickoff event for the Portland Body Modification Gathering.

The following design work will premiere in their 21 May 2005 show, and continue to evolve through the Summer's performances at the Pheonix Festival, Burningman, and many other notorious venues.
