SALMON.RUN, LDS, 2001.

A new mixed-use building located in the heart of downtown Salem, Oregon; the building's program includes three stories of office and three stories of condominiums. The 35,000 sq.ft. building is situated between an existing three story parking garage and Pringle Creek. A translucent bridge connects to the parking structure providing space for the office components. The building's shared spaces; such as the offices' conference area, fitness spa, library and hvac system, are pulled out of the core building creating a translucent fractured crystal which floats. On the many hazy Oregon mornings, steam shall rise from this crystal; as mist from the nearby stream. Large trees along the creek's flood-plane define the building's long narrow footprint, while the floor plates swell out toward the creek as the building grows in height.
